Mountain Top, Coffee from Papua New Guinea

PNG Mountain Top

Wild and fruity with gorgeous earthy undertones

Coffee production in Papua New Guinea dates back to 1926/1927 when the first Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee seeds were planted. However, the Coffee Research Institute claims that coffee was introduced to what was then British Papua in 1890, although it is widely accepted that commercial production only took off in the country in the late 1920s.

Poor infrastructure hampers the PNG coffee industry but this also means that it is hard to access commercial chemicals. So whilst it is not officially classified as such, much of the countries coffee is actually organic.

This is the first of these coffees that I have tried. I prefer milder coffee and this has a lovely flavour. This is very fresh and tasty. As my husband prefers a stronger coffee I have just ordered a sample pack to try some others.

    • Thanks for your feedback Marion. We hope you enjoy the other coffees in the sample pack.
